The Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame congratulates 1998 Hall of Fame Inductee and current Wagner College Athletic Director Walt Hameline on his retirement as head coach of the football team. The New Hartford native stepped away from the sidelines after the 2014 season.

GUSHOF COMMENDS 1998 INDUCTEE WALT HAMELINE ON STELLAR COACHING CAREER

The Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame congratulates 1998 Hall of Fame Inductee and current Wagner College Athletic Director Walt Hameline on his retirement as head coach of the football team. The New Hartford native stepped away from the sidelines after the 2014 season.

Hameline’s Wagner career highlights include the following:

  • 1983 ECAC Metro Champions
  • 1985 ECAC South Champions
  • 1986 ECAC South Champions
  • 1987 NCAA Division III Champions
  • 1992 ECAC Southeast Champions
  • 1993 ECAC Southeast Champions
  • 1993 IFC Bowl Champions
  • 2012 Northeast Conference (NEC) Champions

On a personal level, Hameline has earned the following awards:

  • 1987 NCAA Division II Coach of the Year
  • 2012 Northeast Conference Coach of the Year
  • 2012 College Football News FCS National Coach of the Year
  • 2012 Induction into the New Jersey Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame

In 2012, the football field at Wagner College was renamed “Hameline Field”

Hameline, who currently lives in New Jersey, began his career as head coach at Wagner in 1981 after a standout career as a Linebacker at SUNY Brockport. He finished his coaching career with a record of 224-139-2.
